How important are steps? Have you ever had a pause in your life? For the last few days God has been reminding me of the importance of continuing to move forward in His plan.
In the last year especially I have been learning about walking out purpose. It requires action. In another post, I talked about how I prayed a very simple, but sincere prayer in my kitchen. God has had me on this incredible journey over the last year, and I believe it has come from following through on steps.
I remember the moment so well. I began to see a movie in my mind of an opportunity that I missed about 10 years before.
That day was monumental…. I asked God to forgive me for every missed opportunity. I said “God, I give you 100% of my life and I ask you to bring opportunities back around.” I truly meant it. I said YES to God on a whole new level. I made a vow to God that no matter what He asked of me, as long as I knew it was Him, I would do my best to follow through. That prayer has literally changed the course of my life.
God keeps reminding me of my YES. As a matter of fact these last few days I have been getting some gentle reminders of some things I need to finish… and projects I need to start.
I want to encourage you that your next step could be a simple one. Let me give you an example in my own life.
I painted my studio room, and it is “mostly finished”. As I was praying in that room the other morning, God began to deal with me on the importance of steps and following through. It’s all painted except for some trim around the closet, a door, and the room still needs a curtain. I guess I sorta stopped… to work on other things.
But God reminded me to finish! So I got out that paint brush again and as of this morning, I have the first coat of paint on that trim! And looking for a curtain!
What may look like a simple thing to us….. is very important to God. I believe he keeps track… He keeps record. Everything we do, we do as unto the Lord!
Is it possible that not doing a step can create a pause? Or maybe that small step is part of the larger step? I guess today’s post is a simple reminder that all the steps that God shows us are important and God rewards our sincere steps of obedience.
I absolutely love this scripture!
Psalms 139:13-16 AMP
For You formed my innermost parts;
You knit me [together] in my mother’s womb.
I will give thanks and praise to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Wonderful are Your works,
And my soul knows it very well.
My frame was not hidden from You,
When I was being formed in secret,
And intricately and skillfully formed [as if embroidered with many colors] in the depths of the earth.
Your eyes have seen my unformed substance;
And in Your book were all written
The days that were appointed for me,
When as yet there was not one of them [even taking shape].
Wow… to think, all your days were written in God’s book before you were even formed! You are so valuable to God’s plan friend! You have been put on this earth with a message and a mission to fulfill. Your steps are so important! People benefit from every gift God placed in your life. We are all woven together like a beautiful tapestry. Like all the colors in an expensive painting, we all make our color splash!
So continue to move forward in the plan God has for your life! If you have been in a pause, follow through on the last step God gave you and get the car moving again.
I have realized more than ever it comes in steps… some very small and some large… but it requires movement on those things God has shown you.
Have the mindset that all of these steps are to please your Heavenly Father. God see’s the small steps that maybe no one else may see. God is rewarding your steady faithfulness to complete each step He has put before you.
One day we will all stand before God. May we all fulfill every dream God put us on this earth to do.
Pray this prayer with me today.
Father I will continue to be the moving car. You have plan and a purpose for me. My life and days were written in your book before I was ever formed. Thank you for you direction and gentle nudges. I am following through on your promptings. Thank you for showing me the next step. In Jesus name. Amen
What step has God reminded you of today? How are you going to move forward in that step?
